                      To join this event, click "JOIN NOW" above.  From there, use the drop-down menu options to (a) select your time zone - as the event starts and stops at 12:00 a.m. in your time zone on the 23rd and 29th respectively; (b) then choose a team with current open slots, or create your own and (c) proceed to fill out the rest of the form.  If you are at a facility, think about finding or creating a team with your facility number so you could participate with other people you know.  You can use the military phonetic alphabet to create more than one team from your facility (i.e. AUS2 Charlie, AUS2 Delta, etc.).  

                      We're excited that you joined this event because during the month of March, wear blue: run to remember will focus on telling the stories of our nation's 399K+ currently-serving female service members and the generations who walked before them.  We will close the month with a powerful inaugural community effort called "The Piestewa Challenge", to honor the 177 women who have given their lives in our continued combat operations around the globe.  

                      This event is named in honor of Army SPC Lori Ann Piestewa.  SPC Piestewa is the first Native American service member to be killed in combat on foreign soil, as well as the first female service member killed in Iraq.  In honor of her and all 177 women, we are asking our wear blue community to form teams of up to 8 people and collectively achieve 177 miles of activity in 7 days (March 23 - March 29).

                      Your route will start at Piestewa Peak, near Phoenix, AZ, and conclude177 miles later at the Hopi Land, which is next to the hometown of Army SPC Lori Ann Piestewa.   

                      Each mile of activity will honor the women who made the ultimate sacrifice, celebrate the women who were willing to make such sacrifices, and unite our community with a shared effort of purpose, health and connection.  Thank you for being a part of this community and specifically this challenge.
